Meet The Candidate
Hello, people of Delaware. My friends and my soon to be friends. I want to start off first by saying that I am not a politician. I am a regular citizen who works for a living. I am currently a Registered Nurse. I have been married to my wife Christine for 13 years and I have three children. I have spent 20 years working in health care. I began in sports medicine as an Athletic Trainer working with high school and college athletes as well as performing physical rehabilitation in out patient physical therapy. From there I went back to nursing school. During this time I won an award for being named the outstanding male student in a nontraditional major from my college. After graduation I worked in the ICU of a suburban Philadelphia hospital. I then moved on to doing agency work before arriving in Delaware in 2004. I now work in the operating room as a surgical nurse, working closely with surgeons to save lives of citizens in this great state.
As an unaffiliated candidate I will have no ties to any political party. I will be owned by no one. I will belong solely to the people of Delaware and truly be your servant. Delaware was the first state. I say now that Delaware should be the first state to change the way we vote for candidates. Not just follow the tried, the broken and corrupt politics as usual that we keep sending to Washington! Let us take the lead in this state and send a message to the rest of the country. Let us show them that yes, our votes do matter. We are important and together we can make change. Send me to Washington so we can bring, “Of the People, By the People, For the People” back to our Nations Capitol! If you will join with me, I will work with you to restore our American Dream for us and our children.
I am running for office because I have great reservations about the direction our country is headed. I fear that if someone doesn’t stand up and say “enough!” Our so-called representatives will ruin this great country beyond repair. The massive federal debt, now 13.2 trillion dollars and increasing by the second, is crippling our economy. The interest payment on this debt for the last fiscal year 2009 was $383,071,060,815.42 or about 32 Billion dollars per month. If you don’t believe me, see the numbers for yourself. (http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/ir/ir_expense.htm). In real terms, the annual interest payment on the federal debt is more then the Gross Domestic Product of all but 22 nations. This number does not even include the unfunded shortfalls in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid that total roughly another 100 Trillion dollars. The Budget that your so-called representatives passed for fiscal year 2010 is underfunded by 1.3 Trillion dollars. This number is likely to go higher as more spending is approved. Now that the healthcare bill has been passed, you can blow the top off of this number and all future projections from the Congressional Budget Office. Again you don’t have to take my word for it, you can see for yourself. (http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/108xx/doc10871/BudgetOutlook2010_Jan.cfm)
Here is the message from the director of the CBO Mr. Douglas W. Elmendorf, and I quote “CBO projects, that if current laws and policies remained unchanged, the federal budget would show a deficit of $1.3 trillion for fiscal year 2010. At 9.2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), that deficit would be slightly smaller than the shortfall of 9.9 percent of GDP ($1.4 trillion) posted in 2009. Last year's deficit was the largest as a share of GDP since the end of World War II, and the deficit expected for 2010 would be the second largest. Moreover, if legislation is enacted in the next several months that either boosts spending or reduces revenues, the 2010 deficit could equal or exceed last year's shortfall.” In other words Obama care will break the bank!
Now lets see, Is it me, or is this a never-ending black hole, that in time will cause this country to perish from this earth. The free spending of our politicians will ensure that my children and yours will not be left with any nation to inherit. No American Dream! No Promise of a Better Life! No Liberty or Justice for All!
The only way we can change things in DC is by electing regular citizens. People who know what it’s like to work two and three jobs to pay their bills. The solution is not to elect the Democrats because you’re mad at the Republicans and vice versa. People think that this is making a statement, but it’s not. Republicans and Democrats are identical. They are mostly wealthy people, who all went to the same schools and have the same friends. When the cameras are off and the doors are closed they are all shaking hands and having a drink while they collectively laugh at us all. If you want to change things and truly make a statement, you have to vote for the person who does not stand a chance of winning. That will be real news. This will show your true dissatisfaction with the politicians in Washington. Otherwise it will be business as usual.
This is why I am running for office. For my children and yours. Because I love my country and want to save it from the politicians in DC who clearly don’t love it as we do!
I ask you to join me before it is too late. To save this nation so that our children can one day have their American dream.
I will be a write in candidate for the US House and Senate. I will be on the ballot for Delaware House 34th District Representative. For more information go to www.mikefordelaware.com.
Thank You,
